An excerpt from Kat vs. Dogs

 

When I get to Best Friends, a dog and its owner are coming out of the store. They’re wearing matching green sun visors. Seriously?

Yup. A sign in the window says Dogs Are People Too.

Omg. What am I even doing here?

Money, I tell myself. Remember the money.

I can do this.

I enter and see all things dog.

Aunt Grace sells everything anyone could ever want for their dog child. Coats, boots, collars and leashes of all kinds. Chew toys, organic food, raw food, vegan treats. Stuffies that look like they’re for little kids.

Best Friends even smells of dog, kind of hairy and mucky and gross. Or maybe not. Maybe that’s just me. Because the store is bright and clean and fun. If you like dogs, that is. Which I don’t.
